SECOR

Quote Builder Website for a Pipe Supplier

SECOR sells HDPE pipe and fusion equipment, mostly without fixed prices. We replaced the store checkout with a quote builder, clarified navigation and added location pages.

Overview

SECOR supplies HDPE pipe, custom fabricated fittings and pipe fusion equipment, including McElroy fusion machines for sale and rent, along with repairs and operator training. Its customers are contractors and utilities who know exactly what they need and want a price for it.

SECOR had spent more than two years with a marketing company on a site that never met its needs. In 2021 it asked us to rebuild it. We launched the new site that spring and have supported it ever since.

SECOR: Overview

The Challenge

Most of what SECOR sells has no fixed price. Pipe and fittings are quoted by size, quantity and job, so a standard online store with a checkout and a total did not fit. Customers still needed to browse products, pick options and send a complete request, without a salesperson on the phone for every line item.

The previous site was also hard to navigate. Products, services and equipment rentals were mixed together, and the pages that mattered most to the business were hard to find.

What We Built

A quote builder in place of a checkout

We built on WooCommerce and replaced its checkout with a quote request. Prices and totals are hidden. The cart becomes the Quote Builder, with Add to Quote, View Quote, Update Quote and Request Quote in place of the usual buttons, and a quote icon in the header shows how many items are in it. The options a customer picks on a product carry through to the quote, so SECOR receives a complete request.

A product catalog built for how contractors search

Product category and detail pages, product downloads, and a search that looks at product names, descriptions and tags, so a customer can find a fitting by the term they actually use.

Pages for each line of business

Landing pages for HDPE, McElroy equipment and rentals, repairs, fabrication and training, plus a new home page with video, an About page with a company timeline, resources, news, and a careers page with an application form that accepts resumes.

A 2023 update to the buying path

We moved Products to the front of the navigation, replaced Contact with Get a Quote, added a Browse Products page that opens from an empty quote, and redirected the old products page to it.

Location pages for local search

In 2025 SECOR asked why its Denver location was not getting local search traffic. We built a location page template and pages for Albuquerque, Dallas, Denver, Gillette and Houston, all linked from the main locations page.

Launch and hosting

Cross-browser and mobile testing, redirects from the old site, Search Console fixes after launch, and a move to managed WordPress hosting in early 2022.
